Spring Musings
It’s no shock that spring is much needed around here. Inherently, spring breathes new life into the world–it awakens a season designed to cultivate newness. This year, I couldn’t be more excited.
In general, spring just feels like a much-needed breath of fresh air for me. I love when everything comes into bloom, days are longer, and the breeze warms with every passing day.
This spring, I’m excited to embrace change! I can feel the world turning at a new rhythm post-pandemic. We’re still not fully in a full “normal” swing–but our newness has arrived.
A few things I”m excited for this spring
Backyard dinner parties. I can’t wait to make alllll the alfresco dining dreams come true!
Spring recipes. Spring brings a whole new variety of veg/fruit into the mix–so I can’t wait to get back into the swing of cooking and sharing recipes I try and love.
Wardrobe updates. Yes!! I said it, I’m in the process of redefining my “style” post-pandemic. Nothing major, more so just pairing down and honing in on basics that I’ll love forever. These are all investment pieces, and thus their additions take time–I want these pieces to be ones I wear for the next decade. Jenni Kayne is top of my list right now, as are Anine Bing and Dôen.
Caring for my skin. Over the back half of 2020, my skin really suffered. I think it was massively stressed-induced. So I’ve been really fighting tons of breakouts, and dryness. This spring, I’m finally going to see a dermatologist regularly to help me.
Slowly continuing to grow our home. Okay, I know “grow our home” sounds so weird and cheesy….like what is it, a plant? But really–homes take SO MUCH TIME to grow and become their own. I love styling it and adding new pieces, but it’s really an art that requires natural time. This spring, I’d love to lock down a new accent chair for our living room–I’ve been eyeing these!
Daily doses of sunshine. I tried to commit to this last year and I failed. However, this year feels like a whole new ballgame in terms of getting outdoors. I’d love to sit out in our little shared backyard for an hour during prime sun time (slathered with sunscreen don’t fret) to soak in some vitamin D. Morning trips to the park with a hot or iced coffee and a good book is also on my to-do list before the rush of the day.
