A Peek At MacArthur Place In Sonoma
It’s not every day that you get to slip into sun-soaked wine country vacation. Our stay was something out of a dream. I couldn’t have enjoyed it more if I tried.
MacArthur Place is truly one of a kind. Their property is nestled right down the street from Sonoma Square, making it a super central location and really easy to get to. It’s also a few minutes away from our favorite winery (Scribe)–which makes it a perfect fit for us.
We stayed in the Chef’s Cottage, which did not disappoint. I fell immediately in love with the fact that it had a private patio/garden complete with a gas fireplace and dining area. We enjoyed coffee on the front porch each morning, and late-night pinot by the fire–it was literal bliss. My only regret is not bringing Millie! She would have loved getting to play fetch and sunbathe out on the fenced-in patio.
Their grounds are simply stunning. We spent a morning walking around the property, marveling around every corner at crawling vines and blooming wisteria. Springtime is truly a magical time to go and visit–as their grounds are covered in gardens.
After a long day of wine tasting, all I wanted to do was lay out in the sun by the pool–which was so calming and peaceful. I also took a trip to their spa for a full body massage–it was purely delightful.
I think my favorite part about our stay was our dinner at their restaurant, Layla. Everything was top-notch and so fresh. We ordered a few espresso martinis to kick things off…highly recommend :)
Another favorite detail was their outdoor shower that was a part of our room. It literally felt like a dream to rinse off, hearing the birds chirp in the crisp morning air. I’m definitely earmarking that detail for our future home!
One of the nights we ventured down to Sonoma Square for dinner and ate outside at El Dorado Kitchen. Okay if you go–you need to get their fries AND their focaccia bread. Literal heaven. I couldn’t pick a favorite, but I’m pretty sure those two items will be on my desert island food list forever.
Another great find right down the street from MacArthur was Hopmonk Tavern. It’s a fun little beer garden (the perfect shakeup if you’re sick of wine!) and it was so much fun. Definitely has a laid-back vibe, perfect for day-drinking in the sunshine.
One final little gem that we discovered was Jacks…it’s a fun little retro-style gas station that is stocked with amazing wines. We picked up a few bottles to take back to our room and it was the perfect little easy-grab-and-go stop.
