The Green Smoothie
Sometimes you just need a good old green smoothie. I’m a fan of simple ingredients that are nourishing but also taste good–and for a green smoothie sometimes thats tough. However, I think I’ve nailed the perfect combo of veggie and fruit to make this a crave-able green powerhouse.
I love using frozen veggies for smoothies. First, they tend to keep better and blend into a nicer consistency. Frozen spinach tends to not “froth” as much as fresh spinach, for example. I always buy a bunch of frozen organic veggies and keep them for when I’m craving a smoothie. Spinach, cauliflower, kale, broccoli stems, and zucchini are my favorites to keep on hand. For this recipe however you can definitely use fresh veggies if you prefer!
Ingredients
1 apple
1/2 cup frozen spinach
1/2 cup frozen cauliflower
1/2 tsp fresh ginger
1/2 lemon, peeled
1/4 cup frozen pineapple
1/4 cup frozen mango
1/2 cup cold water
hand full of ice
Blend all ingredients on high until well combined and smooth.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
