The Vibe–July '22

After a hectic and chaotic June…I’m excited for some mid-summer solace.

Ah Cancer season! Slightly moody due to its nature, yet always down for a good time. That is exactly how I feel about the month of July. It’s usually always foggy here in SF during this time, and summer feels like a distant memory. We have unseasonably cold summers here–and so I often retreat up to wine country or the east bay to visit family for the weekends.

This July, I’m beyond excited to rest and recoup. I realize I never shared–but our June was pretty rough. We were traveling over in Ireland in late May and on our second day of the trip, contracted Covid. This was still when the US had their restrictions on requiring a negative Covid test to re-enter the country and so we were trapped in Ireland for an extra 10 days. This was SUCH A ME thing to have happen–we went the entire pandemic without getting Covid, and then the second we set foot outside of the country–BAM. We’re both vaxxed–which I’m thankful for because it allowed us to have a less-intense reaction and I think a swifter recovery. So our June was mostly stuck in a small hotel room in Ireland frantically taking rapid tests in hopes we would test negative. Both of our birthdays we had to skip, we missed so many other fun events and celebrations I cannot even tell you. ANYWAY–I didn’t want this to turn into a sob story but here we are. So July for me is all about getting back to basics, feeling good, getting into a routine and trying to just do things that feel good for me.

Things I’m excited for this July
Early morning farmers markets
All the fresh fruit and veg! We’re almost at high season so the best things are always at the market–stone fruits, berries, figs, corn–ahh!
We may be going to New York (my first time!) in mid-July and I’m so excited, please send all your recs!
Getting to sit down and do some honest reading! I’m halfway through People We Meet On Vacation and I love it!
Morning pages - I shared this on IG but I’m starting The Artists Way. I have heard from so many folks that it was incredibly transformative for them in helping them learn more about their creative selves.
Getting back into running. Okay check back in with me in August–this is a meaty goal for me but I think I can do it. And when I say running–I mean jogging.

Other noteworthy things / housekeeping
I started my Amazon Storefront! I’m so excited to curate products there! I’m already loving the fact that you can create idea lists / post individual photos! I already have linked so many essentials / things I love there, take a gander!
I’m working on overhauling my shop pages and keeping them up to date (I’ve been a delinquent on this front, I’m sorry!)

July Goals
Do morning pages daily
Take myself on an Artists Date 1x a week (A little solo excursion to help fuel the creative mind, it could be a trip to the local park with a design magazine, or a small art gallery)
No phones past 9 PM - this is a TOUGH one for me. But I’m trying to put my phone across the bedroom each night so that I can fall asleep and wake up with less noise/distraction.
1 new recipe each week! You guys love when I share easy weekday lunches so I’m really going to commit to documenting and sharing at least one of these each week.
