Findings From My Undergrad Self

Dang She's Cool.

Recently I've been in the process of completely overhauling my personal design brand. Its a feat, and when you've been out of the practice of design its extremely hard to step back into the rhythm. I just stumbled on a design presentation I put together when I was just entering my last year of undergrad.  It was meant to be a informal introduction to my peers explaining who I was, my aesthetic as a designer, and my goals for the future.

Its crazy, but looking back at this naive designer with all the wide-eyed hopes in the world - I still love her enthusiasm and drive. She was motivated and knew what she wanted. She was hungry, and wanted a challenge that would allow her to grow. Here I am today - years later and I completely identify with these same wants, hungers and needs but from a completely different vantage point.

Over the years as we grow, work, meet new people, take new jobs and flee from old ones - we add layers to ourselves that helps us to better understand our basic wants and needs. Today those original goals have been achieved, and readdressed for where I am now. Not every goal you set needs to be met - not every list needs to be completely checked off. Just make progress, and allow yourself to acknowledge that progress as part of the journey. And every now and then you'll stumble upon something that slaps you in the face and reminds you just how far you've come.
