February Moodboard

I've been introverting this January and been really thinking about intentions, motivations and what inspires me. Its a little ironic because in order to find out what inspires, one must look outwards. I've spent the month of January collecting, observing and really thinking in an inward way. Like many, I don't believe in the "new year new me" goals. I think its important to be intentional all year around, and to make goals that are reasonable and also fun.

One of the main things I've been concentrating on is this idea of creative content. Its become so clear to me that we can all be our greatest producers of content that drives us and inspires us. What's so great about the creative world is that the more it produces, the more inspiration and knowledge there is to spread and further develop.

Its one of my intentions for this month and the coming months to do as much "creating" as I can. I'm the biggest offender of coming home from work and offering the excuse that I'm too exhausted and drained to test recipes, collect inspiration and design. I've been taking small steps - like creating real-life mood boards from my favorite magazines, and writing future ideas down for future projects.

We walk a fine line, as creatives, to also fall victim to being "creative steamrollers" who are just cranking out material at such a rate that it no longer is intentional nor impactful to us or those around us. We therefor should not measure our production - but rather our quality. That said, every little step matters in the process of "being productive", and sometimes you just need to take a well deserved break from your daily, monthly, or even (I'm in this category) yearly output of content. Sometimes the most important stage of a project or stream of work is to stop - and pivot focus. But its just as important to "pause" and not "abandon". So take this next month and create, observe, and pause as much as you need. Content is born from our most unexpected moments of drive and pause.
