A Note to Mid-July

The height of summer

I can’t believe we’re already half way through summer! It’s flown by so far. We kicked off our summer with a few birthday celebrations (fun fact, both Jackson and I are Geminis, so that’s fun). To be honest, June is always a rushed month and the weather never fails to be a little blah around the Bay Area–lots of fog and wind. However July has turned a corner and the sun finally clocking in to its day job, which I’m a big fan of.

We just got back from a week visiting friends in North Carolina and then family in Iowa over the Fourth. It was so much fun to see folks, experience an east coast summer moment and get some beach time in. Traveling left something to be desired–our flights were massively delayed/canceled which is always a headache. But we crossed a long road trip off our bucket list and drove from Chicago to Iowa–7 hours in a pouring down storm. It was a wild experience but we made the best of it, stopping for all the fast food and blasting throwbacks in our rental car at 1AM to stay awake. It was a fun (wild) experience but I’m happy to now be home and settled for the summer.

I’m looking forward to plugging along with my “job search”.

After the wedding I made it a priority to get back into a routine and define my career more after leaving the startup world. I learned so much from that 6 year role, what I liked and what I don’t like about the working world, so I’m using that to help shape what I want my career to look like. I’m pursuing creative marketing roles within interior design–and am excited/hopeful as to what that future looks like. I’ll never abandon my side hustle of my personal work like the blog and my own content, but I think I always want it to remain as a side gig. It makes it more of a creative passion project, rather than forcing it to be a monetary endeavor–which for me takes the love and authenticity out of it.

Aside from the job hunt, I’m excited to just celebrate and be present with summer.

Margaritas on a Tuesday evening–just because. Taking a sunshine break during a long lunch. Cooking all the summer foods. Speaking of, I am getting back into sharing recipes! And by recipes, I mean simple meals that honestly don’t really require a recipe. I’m a home cook who loves fresh, seasonal fare and am inspired by sharing easy meals. I’m by no means a trained chef nor am I a food snob. I am however a snob about food presentation–that is part of the fun of it for me. I love making simple foods beautiful. Just because it’s a Monday night doesn’t mean your meal has to be bland and boring or so overly complicated that you’ll never make it again.

One thing I’m excited to launch THIS WEEKEND is my email series again!

I’ve been dreaming this up for a while, but I’m excited to share semi-weekly content editorial emails for you all! I’ll be sharing bite-sized unique content via email, so it’s not just a regurgitation from what you see here or on social. Each will be unique, seasonally inspired, and centered around either a lifestyle, interiors, food, wellness or style topic. If you haven’t signed up, definitely do so now (you can sign up at the bottom of this page too!) Each will go out on a Sunday afternoon–perfect for curing the Sunday Scaries.

I wanted to also say a huge thank you for all the love, support and sharing of our wedding content!

I’m working on a giant blog post sharing all of our photos and the entire process as a permanent form of content to live on the blog. I’ll also be pinning all of our images, so come pin with me! It was honestly so rewarding to hear all of your stories, thoughts and to answer your questions.

Sharing our wedding and the branding process of it got me thinking about sharing more of that content in general.

I’m a trained graphic designer (graduated from USF with my bachelors in Design) and adore branding. One of my favorite parts of DIY-ing our wedding was all of the print materials and branding. I designed everything from our website, to our invites and all of the print signage/materials present on the day. I love the process of creating a vision, from moodboard to final product–and want to share this with you! I’m thinking I will maybe start sharing some sample "what I would do” scenarios on social for little tips on basic branding, aesthetic choices, and honing in on a vision. I also take clients for branding, so if you’d like to work more closely together–drop me a line!

Happy July!
