Epilogue of Summer

August is summer’s farewell. I adore this month, as its usually warmer here in San Francisco. The days are still long and full of sunshine. I find renewed energy as the season begins to slowly change.

This month, I’m excited for one last spark of summer. I’m trying my best to savor this time, slow down, and be present. After leaving the full-time work world back in June, I’ve put my personal wellness and health as my top priority. I recently started working with a naturopath doctor, going to regular acupuncture, and cleaning up my diet. These changes are slow and steady, however I find myself feeling better each day.

This August (and September) I’m going to be focused on slow living. Enjoying each day for what it is. Taking reading breaks in the park. Making fresh and delicious meals like this one. I’ve been eyeing a summer salad recipe to help ring in the end of corn season.

I’m not traveling this month (it feels so good to be nesting at home after lots of meandering this summer) and couldn’t be happier. I’m looking forward to getting in to more of a routine around this idea of “slow living”. Aside from that, I’m really committing myself to regular movement daily. I’m loving going for long walks to get my 10k steps in each day. I just feel so good when I move and walking is becoming my new favorite.

Later this month I have my first makeup trial for our wedding and I’m eeeking! I’m not sure exactly how we got this far but also are still so far away from the day. There’s some exciting things on the horizon that are yet to come and I can’t wait! But the makeup and dress are giving me anxiety so I’m excited to make progress there. I shared more about this thought on IG the other week and got SO much amazing insight so I put it into a little resource here in case anyone is interested! I also am collecting makeup and dress inspo over on my Pinterest!

I’ll be honest…I’m not super into Fall this year. I think it’s because I want summer to keep going, and I’m just too focused on our wedding in April that all I can think about is Spring. However…I will do a few posts about pieces / things I’m excited about. I just find the whole Fall thing to be so overhyped each year for some reason. I also really resent the fact that each season gives us a reason to buy something…it’s kind of overkill and I don’t want my content to be focused around products. I’d rather focus more on a meaningful lifestyle that is found through appreciating the artful daily little moments.

That said…I did make one purchase in prep for fall that I know I’ll wear forever and of course it’s the boston clogs. I cannot wait to style these babies. I know I’ll get some shade for them from the non-Birkenstock community but I’m obsessed.

Take a peek at my pre-fall shop!
