Welcoming the New Year Al Fresco
One of my favorite ways to celebrate the new year is by stepping outside. Going for a nature walk, heading to the beach, or throwing a special picnic are a few of my go-to’s. This year, we decided to round up a few of our favorite eats and sips–and head over to a park we used to frequent. It was such a lovely way to welcome in the new year.
When I get the chance, I love getting to style outdoors. It is such an invigorating experience to curate something lovely and beautiful in an environment that is fresh, new, and alive. For picnics or al fresco dining especially–I always let my surroundings influence and inspire the scene or mood I’m cultivating. In this instance, I chose to have our new years eve picnic at Alamo Square–a park near where I used to live. Jackson and I went here quite often, most notably on our second date–so it’s a special place to use. I always used to picnic here after finals with friends too–it was such a celebratory ritual that I loved.
We grabbed all of our food from Bi-Rite–one of SF’s gems with all kinds of local artisan-style foods and bevs. I love splurging on a meal like this–getting a super nice sando and a great bottle of wine with our favorite cheese just feels so nice. Not to mention–it all tastes divine under the sunshine! I feel so fortunate that we are able to bask in this beautiful weather on new years eve–I even got a little tiny tan!

Trays and actual glasses / cutlery
Never forget a wine opener!
