An Evening In

I’ll be the first to admit, I’m a total homebody. If given the choice between going out and staying in–I’ll always opt for being home.

There has always been something so magical about staying in, surrounded by the people and objects I love most. It’s comfortable, and incredibly familiar which happens to be just what I’m craving right now.

An evening in seems to have become the new normal lately. We’re shifting our focus to turn inward, towards the home and all of its comforting joys. For us, that means opening a coveted bottle of wine, cracking the windows, and putting on a favorite playlist. I can’t help but be reminded of how impactful the simple pleasures are. Fresh air, sunshine, and the promise of a new day are the things that seem to be putting a smile on my face these days.

Crafting a beautiful evening at home has become second nature to me. As a self-proclaimed homebody–one of my favorite things to do is entertain in my abode. Its actually very easy to make an evening at home feel incredibly special. Here are a few of my go-to’s for putting together a magical (and simple) evening in.

Clean Slate

Ah yes–just a little tidying goes a long way. I’ll put away any surface clutter that is giving me anxiety, and maybe pull out the duster. It’s amazing what a little sprucing can do for the mood!

Set a Mood

As its staying lighter (and therefor warmer) out later, I love opening our windows to get some fresh evening air. Letting the breeze flow through our apartment quite literally breathes new life through the rooms, making it feel more alive and fresh.

Light a few candles, placing them throughout your home so that you’re greeted by something warm and beautiful around every unexpected corner. Jasmin is one of my current faves right now. Roses is also a longtime love. If candles aren’t your jam, diffusers are the way to go. I love diffusing fresh oils like lavender or gardenia to bring a spring-time mood indoors.

Turn up your favorite playlist and let the tone take over. Here is a great staying in playlist!

Sprinkle Delight

Flowers bring me so much joy. On Friday evenings, I’ll make sure that we have some fresh blooms to last us through the weekend. I love dispersing a larger bouquet in smaller vases throughout our apartment. I usually center the focus around our living room–which is where we spend the most time.

Pour & Enjoy

If I’m going the extra mile, I’ll make a fun cocktail (or mocktail) to fit the mood. Most nights, I’ll pop open a favorite bottle of vino–most likely a Scribe rosé or Salvestrin pinot. I’ll pull out our favorite glasses because they make everything feel incredibly special.

Our bar cart seems to be getting quite a bit of use these days. So why not fill it with a few of your favorite objects in addition to beloved libations? Our bar cart always holds a few near and dear objects in addition to some fresh blooms to add a bit of life and color.
