My Favorite Austrian Rosé

Meinklang rosé

I recently have fallen in love with Meinklang. After recommendations from a few fellow wine lovers, I decided it was mighty time to give their fizzy rosé a try. Let me just say… it did not disappoint, I loved it!

First and foremost, I love the taste. It’s definitely a fruit-forward and a slightly sweeter rosé that is perfect for a sunny afternoon. Formally known as the Frizzante Rosé, it has a lovely pop that is slightly bubbly. However it’s definitely not too bubbly, nor anywhere near the type of bubble of a champagne or prosecco.

Meinklang is an Austrian winery based in the Burgenland region of the country. Being a fellow Austrian, I can’t help but praise a local producer making great wine. The winery is also certified biodynamic, which is a fancy term for essentially meaning that they’re universally organic, and generationally sustainable.

Biodynamic farms and wineries pride themselves on harvesting from the land in order to make it a better place for years to come. As we take a glance at the current climate around this subject, it might not seem necessary. However I’m a firm believer in being as organic and sustainable as possible when it comes to all things consumerism. It’s our duty to ensure that the place where we live will be cherished and fortified for years to come.

I would love the chance to visit the winery, however seeing as they’re a bit farther than Sonoma…we’re going to have to plan a trip the next time we venture over to Europe. In the meantime, I stock up on a few bottles at a time so that I can break them out for casual gatherings or even a relaxed night in. The rosé is a perfect pairing and goes with just about anything. I’m looking forward to busting it out for our next wine and cheese party.
