June
June is one of those months that always whooshes by. I spend most of spring in anticipation for June, because it marks six months from the start of the year. June is a month of celebrations - birthdays, weddings, parties and dinners that last deep into the dark evening.
As the start of summer, we look to June to get us ready for the upcoming days filled with sunshine and warmth. However living in San Francisco, June has always been unpredictable in terms of weather. June Gloom is a popular term for the 30 days between May and July. But despite the low-hanging fog that may hover over our city, I still find so much beauty in this month.
Peonies come into season for a few weeks. Its officially the month to drink cheap (but delectable) rosé at every café and bar. Heirlooms are arriving at the markets. You can wear all white all the time. Its a very casual month despite its position as an entry point into summer.
I love June because as an introverted person, I get this month to bask in the splendor and joys of summer before the louder, more social months begin. I'll stroll the farmers market on a Sunday with no rush, and cherish the warmer afternoons by walking home from my office. Weekend plans are often made last minute. July and August are always a little chaotic, with their big holidays and travels before early fall begins. However in June, there's no rush to get anywhere - which is why its alway been a favorite of mine.
