Le Weekend | No. 1
Le Weekend is one of my favorite films from director Roger Mitchel. Its a beautiful story that follows a lovely British couple as they travel to Paris many years after they honeymooned there. Its really a great story about two people who have been together for a lifetime and yet still are learning new things about themselves and one another as the years go by.
I’m dedicating a series entitled Le Weekend - to highlight some memorable moments during our weekends. I’ve noticed that weekends tend to whoosh by, and I’d like to make a point at celebrating each moment - big or small.
This weekend, we were lucky enough to get to take care of our doggie-niece, Stella. At just about one year old, she’s a firecracker full of energy, but at the same time she’s just a bag of cuddles when she wants to be. This was a major test run for us as we’re eager to adopt a pup of our own sometime soon. After picking her up on Friday morning, she sat right by my side all day as I worked.
We got out every few hours for walks around the neighborhood which made me fall even deeper in love with where we live. Walking the small, twisting streets of the Marina is a bit like being in the canals of Venice - you never quite know where they’re going to wrap around to. And waiting for you at each corner is an even more beautiful house than the next.
On Saturday afternoon we stopped at a neighborhood favorite wine bar, Cultivar. They just opened up their outdoor back patio - its a great cozy space to pop a bottle and relax. We sat on the front patio and had a glass of rosé while Stella made lovey-eyes at everyone who passed by. Later we stopped by the dog park, and ended our day with an evening walk to grab some ice cream.
Sunday was a bit of a chore day, filled with laundry and some meal prep - Stella stood by waiting patiently while I made homemade bone broth to soothe a cold that I seemed to have picked up this past week. Afterwards we stepped out to go grab some fresh blooms for the week and a new candle - I’m a tried and true Diptyque fan but I’m trying out a new scent from Jo Malone (eek). Sunday evening Stella returned home one happy camper and we went about our normal routine — Below Deck and din.
We’ve taken care of Stella before, but not for longer periods of time. So this was the first multiple-day trip that she’s stayed with us. It was a great weekend, and I loved getting to have her by my side all day long. Sooo are we adopting a pup? After this weekend I know we’re ready and there is no time like the present. Stay tuned!
That’s a wrap! Is it Friday yet?! I’ll be counting down the minutes.
