An Earthy and Wild Thanksgiving Table

At each place setting, I love leaving a little gift for my guests. This year, I used an herb bag to wrap a simple kumquat stem to represent bounty, abundance, and earthy beauty. I think it’s a lovely gesture to come away with a small token that feels personal and memorable.

There is something so dreamy about an earthy and wild table–around which a gathering can linger long after a meal is served. Flickering candles, layered linens, and little moments of earthy charm create a relaxed and informal focal point.

This year more than ever, I’m thankful for the little moments that have become so powerful in my day-to-day life. I’ve started honoring them, celebrating them, and creating them with others which have brought me immense joy.

To celebrate, I thought–why not create a tablescape around those little moments? Using elements of nature, wild branches, fruits, mixed woods, and layered textiles, my dream table was born.

Notes on creating a natural, earthy and wild tablescape—
Don’t feel too bound by using conventional or decor.
Work with objects that feel whole, found in nature and simple.
I love heading to the farmers market or the produce isle to forage for seasonal fruits and nuts to sprinkle throughout my table.
Work with natural-inspired wood finishes that feel rustic rather than manufactured or shiny.
Let the food speak for itself!
Craft your table around your guests–ideally the perfect tablescape flows and allows people gather with ease.
