A Few Days in the Mountains
This past week we took a little trip up to Tahoe. Back in August, I booked this trip because I knew we’d need a little refresh, recharge, and change of scenery before the holidays and year-end. I’ve never been so thankful for pre-booking a trip–it was hands down so needed and felt so good to get away. Aside from visiting my parents in the East Bay, we haven’t “traveled” at all this year–for obvious reasons. So this trip felt so special and needed.
This wasn’t a traditional, “vacation” because we planned to work the entire time while there. So in lack of better words, this was a “remote work trip”. And I have to say…it was amazing. I felt incredibly inspired and uplifted by the change of scenery and beautiful surroundings. I came to the conclusion that maybe smaller, local remote work trips are the cure-all to these covid blues? There is something so rewarding about just popping in the car and driving a few miles away from your normal day-to-day that just breathes new life into the day.
We stayed in West Shore (Homewood to be specific) at the most charming airbnb–it was seriously so cute and would highly recommend it! Growing up my family had a home in North Shore Incline Village so it was really cool getting to see another part of the lake.
The house was so perfect and had everything we needed–even homemade cookie batter waiting for us in the fridge! The space is great for a small group–ideal for one or two couples. It’s dog-friendly which was a major plus for us, and Millie loved it. Outside on their back deck, there is a hot tub and a small sitting area for apres-ski festivities. The kitchen is perfect for cooking at home and had everything we needed in terms of essentials. The fireplace was by far my favorite element and heated the whole downstairs perfectly!
We arrived late on Sunday night and immediately popped a pinot, spread out a cheese board, and lit the fireplace. It was so lovely.
Each morning we woke up extra early to get a little nature walk in through the neighborhood before sitting down to work. One morning I treated myself to an early hot-tub, it was pure bliss.
This was Millie’s first time seeing and experiencing snow so it was so fun to document. I think It was way more fun for us than it was for her–safe to say she’s a warm-weather pup!
