Good morning!

Welcome to the first installment of a new series called The Morning Edit! I’m kicking this off to inspire the recognition of the small and beautiful moments that are part of our fleeting mornings.

I am BY NO MEANS a morning person. In fact, I usually wake up feeling a bit off and unsteady. And that is exactly what inspired this series post idea.

I think it’s perfectly normal to wake up feeling slightly off-kilter. We’ve just been passed out for hours on end, and what – we’re just supposed to wake up fresh as a daisy each day feeling perfectly perfect? NO. I look at each morning as an adjustment phase. Running through the motions, such as going for a walk, getting ready, dressing and eating breakfast are all meditative steps I take to help me feel my best each and every morning. Some mornings they work and others are just… blah – but that doesn’t mean they have to be unforgettable.

Some mornings are so rushed I don’t even have time to catch a breath (or shower) and that’s okay thats life. I have seen loads of glamorous and detailed morning routines out there loaded with exercise, meditation, bath soaks, juice sequences, reading even – and yes, they’re inspiring but quite honestly they leave me feeling defeated and are unrealistic.

I share parts of my mornings on my instagram stories, but these posts intend to go just a bit deeper. I’m hoping to post these by 10am each morning – but as life goes, this may change and the point is not to be exact or perfect.

Mornings have always been tough for me – so why not try to make an active effort to make them a bit more memorable? These moments are raw, un-edited and very off the cuff. I find that creativity is often that way – usually the most authentic creative work comes from the most raw places.
